There will be four archery events at the Beijing Games:

  • Individual men
  • Individual women
  • Team men
  • Team women

Each qualified team will consist of no more and no less than three archers. No NOC is allowed more than three archers total.

All four events will be competed under the FITA-approved 70m distance and rules. There will be a ranking round before moving on to the Olympic round, which will be played in a tournament format. In individual competition, there is a field of 64 individuals; in team competition, there is a field 16 teams.

The ranking round will seed individual and team rounds;  from there, the medal round will be conducted in tournament format where one loss will eliminate the competitor, save for the semifinals. In that round, the losers will move on to bronze medal competition; the winners will move on to compete for the gold medal.
