The player to beat in men’s singles at the Rio 2016 Oympics. After bursting onto the professional scene in 2003, Serbian Novak Djokovic took home his first of 12 (and counting) Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open in 2008. That year also saw him win bronze at the Beijing Olympics – his sole medal so far, despite also having played in the London 2012 Olympics. Known for his strict gluten-free diet and spot-on impressions of players like John McEnroe and Maria Sharapova, the member of the “Big Four” completed a career Grand Slam - winning at least once at the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and U.S. Open - in June 2016. The current world no. 1 became a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2015. Djokovic had his fitness book, “Serve to Win”, published in 2013. He and his high school sweetheart, Jelena Ristic, married in spring 2014 and had their first son, Stefan, that October.
