Ligety is the only U.S. man with two Olympic Alpine skiing gold medals. He had his breakout moment as a 21-year-old at the 2006 Olympics, when he became the first U.S. Alpine ski racer to win gold in combined. Getting to know Ted Ligety
Ligety was nicknamed “Ted Shred” by a ski coach in Park City when he was about 10 years old.
He is the co-founder of Shred, a ski apparel company. He now sponsors many of his rivals.
The Utah native is a big fan of the Utah Jazz.
