  • He competed in athletics [shot put] at university, and was encouraged to try bobsleigh by members of the university coaching staff. He attended a talent identification camp in April 2013 and was invited to train with the national bobsleigh team. "Bobsledding is such a rush. You are in the back of that sled and your trust is in the pilot that he is going to get you down safely. It's a very violent ride. Everyone trusts each other. We support the pilot. He in turn says 'you guys trust me and I will get you through'. We give him the start he needs. The start dictates essentially who wins and loses."
