Biography

Stylish riding has earned Ben Ferguson respect among snowboarding peers and fans alike.

The Oregon native originally participated in both halfpipe and slopestyle, winning gold in halfpipe and silver in slopestyle at the 2012 Youth Olympic Winter Games. He has since become a halfpipe specialist though.

While Ferguson may not have the same resume that some of his teammates do at major competitions, he has been a fixture at many of the novelty events that are meant to be taken less seriously than those "elite" contests. For three consecutive years, he was voted the "MVP" of the Peace Park event hosted by Danny Davis. Davis, who was one of Ferguson's biggest influences growing up, created the event as a way to bring creative snowboarders together to ride experimental courses and features without the pressure of a judged contest.

Ferguson also teamed up with his younger brother Gabe to win the doubles contest at the Double Pipe event held in 2015. The event featured side-by-side halfpipes which riders could transition back and forth between. In the doubles contest, each pair of riders was encouraged to take creative lines through the course together.

But Ferguson can still rip a halfpipe in a traditional contest too. In 2016, he placed second at two major events: X Games and the Burton U.S. Open.
