Since switching from Alpine racing to ski cross in 2008, Canada's Brady Leman has always been on the cusp of something great but is still chasing many of the sport's most prized accolades.

The early years of Leman's career were marred by injuries. As an alternate for the Canadian Olympic team in 2010, Leman got called into action when a teammate was hurt just before the event. But one day before the ski cross competition, and just one day after getting the call-up, he broke his leg while practicing on the course and missed the Olympics.

After returning from injuries and putting in some strong results on the World Cup circuit, Leman finally got his first Olympic action in 2014. He advanced all the way through to the final but was matched up again three members of the French team in that race. As such, they worked in unison to keep Leman behind them. The Canadian ended up fourth, just one spot shy of a medal. After the race, Canadian officials were among those who launched a protest of the results, alleging that the French team had illegally altered their paints in order to gain an unfair aerodynamic edge, but the appeal was dismissed and Leman remained without a medal.

The runner-up in the World Cup ski cross rankings in both 2012 and 2017, Leman is still chasing his first crystal globe, as well as his first world championship medal of any color. Leman does have some hardware from X Games though: He won bronze in 2010 and gold in 2016.
