Canadian short track skater Charles Hamelin is looking to complete his trophy case in PyeongChang, which will be the 33-year-old’s fourth Olympic Games. In his Olympic debut at the 2006 Torino Games, Hamelin won a silver medal with the Canadian men in the 5000m relay race. Four years later and now a two-time world champion in the 500m, Hamelin entered the 2010 Vancouver Olympics a favorite to win multiple golds on home ice. His first few days of racing were underwhelming, but on the last night of Olympic competition Hamelin claimed two gold medals, first in the 500m and then in the 5000m relay, within one hour. In Sochi, he added another Olympic gold to his resume when he finished first in the 1500m. Heading into his fourth Olympics at 33 years old, Hamelin hopes to complete his collection by winning the Olympic title in the 1000m. He won the world title in this distance in 2016, and a bronze in 2017.
