Eve Muirhead was just 19 years old when she made her Olympic debut as the skip of the British women’s curling team at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. The youngest full-time skip in the tournament, Muirhead gained some bad press for getting frustrated after a missed throw and hitting her broom on the ice, breaking the brush off the handle—a major faux pas in decorum-conscious curling. The British women ended the competition in seventh place. Later that year, Muirhead and her teammates won their first world championships medal, a silver. Two years later, they established themselves at the very top of curling’s ranks when they won gold at the 2013 World Championships. Muirhead returned to the 2014 Sochi Olympics as a medal favorite, and defeated Switzerland 6-5 in the playoffs to win a bronze medal. Playing with Anna Sloan, Vicki Adams and Lauren Gray, Muirhead added another world championships medal to her resume in 2017, when her rink finished third to win bronze.
