With seven consecutive AFP (Association of Freeskiing Professionals) overall titles to his credit, Gus Kenworthy is considered by many to be the world’s most well-rounded freeskier. Not only is Kenworthy the only male athlete competing in all three freeskiing disciplines – halfpipe, slopestyle and big air – he has also cemented himself as a podium threat in each one.

In addition to multiple X Games medals, the triple threat already has an Olympic silver in his collection. Kenworthy placed second in freeski slopestyle when the sport debuted in Sochi, joining teammates Joss Christensen and Nick Goepper in a historic podium sweep for the United States.

While in Sochi, Kenworthy found a family of stray puppies on the streets, kickstarting a saga that gained widespread attention and made him a viral sensation. He subsequently decided to adopt the dogs and bring them from Russia to the States.

The Telluride, Colorado native will be attempting to make the U.S. Olympic team in both slopestyle and halfpipe for PyeongChang 2018 after narrowly missing out on a spot on the halfpipe team in 2014.

In 2015, Kenworthy became the first male action sports athlete to publicly come out as gay.
