A perennial frontrunner of women's halfpipe, Maddie Bowman is one of the most dominant freeskiers in the game today. It seems that the only thing that can slow her down is an injury, but even that is just a temporary setback for her. When she tore her ACL in 2015, Bowman came back stronger than ever the next year, landing a switch 900 — a trick that had never before been executed in a women's halfpipe competition — at X Games and capturing her fourth consecutive gold medal at that event.

Among Bowman's other hardware: a gold medal from the 2014 Winter Olympics, which featured the debut of freeski halfpipe as an Olympic sport.

While continuing to train at a world-class level, Bowman has also put a focus on her education. She is simultaneously pursuing a degree from Utah's Westminster College.
