One of the highest-ranked American badminton players, Paula Lynn Obanana is a doubles specialist who competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Born in Dumaguete, a city in the Philippines, Obanana grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota. She credits her parents with being instrumental in supporting her athletic career. She is currently coached by Johannah Lee and Yong Sung-Yoo.

Getting to know Paula Lynn Obanana


Obanana took classes at De La Salle University – Taft in the Philippines.


At the 2015 Pan American Games, Obanana won gold alongside Eva Lee in women’s doubles. Previously, she won bronze in mixed doubles with Howard Bach in 2007.


Achieved her highest women’s doubles ranking with partner Eva Lee, world no. 17, in March 2015. At the end of 2015, the duo was ranked world no. 28.
