The daughter of a ski instructor, France's Perrine Laffont began skiing at the age of 2 and then moved into moguls just a few years later. She also tried Alpine skiing at a young age but ultimately decided to pursue moguls when the time came to choose between the two.

In 2015, Laffont became the junior world champion in both moguls and dual moguls. Her breakout season on the World Cup circuit followed the next year, as she won the first two World Cup events of her career and finished third in the final rankings. She capped off the season by winning another junior world title in moguls.

Laffont continued to improve during the 2016/17 season that followed. She reached the podium in five of 11 events and finished second in the World Cup rankings behind Australia's Britt Cox. At the 2017 World Championships, Laffont won a pair of medals — gold in dual moguls, silver in moguls.

During the 2014 Olympics, Laffont was the youngest competitor across all freestyle skiing disciplines at the age of 15. She ended up placing 14th in Sochi but has established herself as a medal contender for PyeongChang 2018.
