Biography

A standout player since she was in high school, Tina Charles has been recognized as one of the best players in the world at every stage of her career. As a senior at Christ the King High School, Charles was the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association National Player of the Year, N.Y. state’s “Miss Basketball” and was named to the McDonald’s All-American Team – all while leading her team to 57 consecutive victories. At the University of Connecticut, Charles and Olympic teammate Maya Moore led the school to back-to-back national championships, going undefeated in the process. The 6-foot-4 center became Connecticut’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder while earning recognition as the nation’s top player in 2010. Charles went on to be the No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft, was named the 2010 WNBA Rookie of the Year and the 2012 WNBA MVP.
