Biography

One of many prolific judokas trained by four-time Olympian Jimmy Pedro, Travis Stevens has made Olympic appearances at the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Games but is still in search of his first Olympic medal. He came close at London but lost to Canadian Antoine Valois-Fortier in the Bronze Medal Match. Since London, Stevens has placed an increased emphasis on his Brazilain jiu-jitsu cross-training, trying his hand at entering jiu-jitsu tournaments and earning a black belt in the discipline. In the ramp-up to the Rio Olympics, the popular American recorded a much-needed win in the half middleweight (81kg/178 lbs) division at the 2015 Pan American Games. He followed that up with a silver medal at the 2016 Havana Grand Prix a few months later.
