It's hard to put into words how I feel at the end of these games. It has been a fabulous experience with all my coworkers from Gannett and especially with my KARE partner, Dave Schwartz. But just being here has been special and I'm so honored to have been able to come here on behalf of KARE.
Here is a list of my top ten moments from the Sochi Winter Olympics:
Being at the men's USA vs. Russia hockey game that was won on a shootout
Experiencing the spectacularly warm weather in Sochi
Going to the "Today" show set and meeting all the anchors
Getting to know all the Olympic athletes with Minnesota ties
Going up to the mountain cluster and experiencing my first cross country competition
Being at two different events where Vladimir Putin was too
Working with the whole Gannett gang
Eating authentic Russian food
Walking about five miles a day
Learning how to hand wash my clothes
I am surprised that I survived this time away from home with relative ease. My eye ordeal lasted about a week and that was the only real issue I had here at all.
We worked some extremely long hours and covered many, many events and in the end, I hope we were able to provide a good product to our KARE 11 audience. That is the real reason we were here… for you. Thank you so much for following along with us during our time in Sochi!!!
