Although Kimberly Derrick was born in Arkansas, she now lives in Salt Lake City, Utah. The speed skater got her start in the sport by competing in inline skating. By age six she began dominating the inline skating world and won or placed in one national championship after another. At age 18, she made the switch to skating on ice. Since then, she has won the 2004-2005 ADT American Cup and qualified for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. During the 2008-2009 World Cup season, Derrick brought home one gold and two bronze medals in the 1000m.
