Kaya Turski dislocates shoulder in Olympic slopestyle debut; fails to advance
Zuzana Stromkova's first run may have ended on a failed 720, but she'll go down in history as the first ever woman to compete in freeski slopestyle in the Olympics. She did not qualify for the final round.
Another woman who did not qualify for the final was Canada's Kaya Turski. Heading into the qualifier, she was the favorite to win the event's first-ever Olympic gold medal. Rather than leave Sochi with a medal, Turski will leave Sochi with a dislocated shoulder that she suffered on her first run that ended in a crash. Her second run resulted in a crash as well.
Exactly six months ago on Tuesday, Turski tore her ACL for the third time. Her Olympic debut consisted of two runs that ended in crashes. It was on her first run when she dislocated her
Dara Howell from Canada won the qualifier with a score of 88.80 on her first run. Earlier in the week, Howell predicted that Canada will win gold in both women's and men's slopestyle. Howell and her Canadian teammate are looking good to make this prediction stick. Kim Lamarre and Yuki Tsubota advanced, finishing second and fourth, respectively.
Top American was Devin Logan, finishing fifth with an 80.40. Julia Krass and Keri Herman also advanced to the final.

Seventeen-year-old Lisa Zimmerman of Germany, who's currently the number one ranked slopestyle skier in the world, failed to advance to the finals, finishing 14th.
Russia's lone competitor, Anna Mirtova, did not advance, wiping out on her second run, attempting a double front flip.
The top 12 scores advance to the final.
