Mirai Nagasu began skating at age 5 after her parents took her ice skating on a rainy day when she couldn't play golf. Nagasu is an accomplished skater and says she was thrilled every day leading up to the 2007 and 2008 U.S. Championships. Finally being able to stand at the top of the podium was a huge thrill. She became the 2008 U.S. champion, 2007 U.S. junior champion, 2007 junior Grand Prix final champion and a two-time world junior medalist (silver in 2007, bronze in 2008). Nagasu has a passion for school. She attends Arcadia High School and was the winner of Superintendent's Art Award at Foothills Middle School. After her skating career, she hopes to join the fashion industry.
