Los Angeles native Keaunu McLaughlin believes her intensity is what sets her apart from others and judging by her accomplishments, she may be right. Coach Dalilah Sappenfield teamed up Rockne Brubaker with McLaughlin in early 2006. In 2007, they won the junior title at both the 2007 United States Figure Skating Championships and the 2007 World Junior Figure Skating Championships. McLaughlin and Brubaker were the fourth American pair team in history to win the world junior championships. She says getting her first medal at the U.S. championships changed her life. She says her most prized possessions are the four medals she won.
When her skating career ends, McLaughlin says she would like to have her own line of skating apparel. When asked who she would most like to meet, she says Angeline Jolie. "I admire her support and efforts toward humanitarian causes."
