Julia Mancuso was born in Reno and lives in Olympic Valley, Calif., where she trains to defend her 2006 Olympic gold medal in giant slalom.

The four-event athlete started World Cup racing at age 16, competed in the Olympics at age 17, and by her early 20s she set a record for most top-three finishes in U.S. Championship history.

She has a passion for what she calls her “pet projects,” namely the World Wildlife Fund and Right to Play.
