While training for the 2002 Olympics, Chu also attended the Northwood School in Olympic history-rich Lake Placid. Another Northwood alum. is goalie Mike Richter, who was the hero when the U.S. won the 1996 World Cup of Hockey, and was a participant on the 1988, 1998 and 2002 men's Olympic hockey teams.
