Jeremy Abbott began skating at age two in Aspen, but it wasn't until he saw Olympic gold medalist Robin Cousins skate that he knew he really wanted to become a figure skater. Abbott was only four at the time.
In 1999, at age 14, Abbott moved to Colorado Springs, where he enrolled at Cheyenne Mountain High School and trained at Broadmoor Skating Club. Abbott is the reigning U.S. men's champion and was the first American man to win the Grand Prix Final. Despite moving to Michigan to train at the Detroit Skating Club, Abbott remains true to his Colorado roots. The Jeremy Abbott Training Fund, which he started in 2005, provides financial help to boys competing for his first skating club, the Aspen Figure Skating Club.
