Vonn begins training in Vail

By Gannett

VAIL - Two-time World Cup overall champion Lindsey Vonn is gearing up for the upcoming season.

Vonn began training at the Golden Peak portion of Vail Mountain. Vail received approval this spring from the U.S. Forest Service to install automatic snowmaking equipment on Golden Peak.

Teams from Austria, Germany and Australia are expected to join members from the men's and women's U.S. ski teams for training at Vail.

Vonn opened the season with a ninth-place finish in giant slalom on Oct. 24 in Soelden, Austria.
