For Olympic fans, it's a "huh, go figure" moment as a new torch relay runner was announced: none other than actor-turned-California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Schwarzenegger will be one of the last runners, handing the torch off to UK Olympic medalist Sebastian Coe, on Friday morning, the day the 2010 Vancouver Olympics officially kick off with the Opening Ceremony.
Also announced was Walter Gretzky, father of famed Canadian hockey player Wayne Gretsky.
The 106-day relay run will draw to a close Friday evening, but the final legs may not be so smooth.
Members of the Olympic Resistance Network, a consortium of groups promising to protest the games, have said they will be loud -- but peaceful -- during protests throughout opening weekend.
John Furlong, CEO of the Vancouver organizing committee, said that having protestors is nothing new, but he hopes any actions will be respectful. "Clearly we want to have a big finish," Furlong told AP.
Perhaps if things get too out of line, Schwarzenegger can step in... maybe he wasn't such an odd pick, after all.
