U.S. Olympic team to be revealed at Winter Classic

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- The members of the U.S. Olympic hockey team will be announced during the broadcast of the NHL's Winter Classic on New Year's Day.

The 23-man squad will be led by Maple Leafs coach Ron Wilson. Its first game is scheduled for Feb. 16 against Switzerland in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The Boston Bruins will host the Philadelphia Flyers at Fenway Park in this season's Winter Classic. The game will be broadcast on NBC, starting at 1 p.m.

In August 2009, 34 American players attended the U.S. Olympic Orientation camp in the Chicago suburb of Woodridge, Ill. Click here to see the camp roster.

Though the Olympic team will likely consist mainly of players from that camp, Wilson and Team USA GM Brian Burke have said that other players are in the running. Players will be selected largely based on their performances through the first three months of the NHL season.
