David Boudia returns for third Olympic Games, chance to defend gold medal
David Boudia, 2012 Olympic 10m platform champion, qualified for the opportunity to defend his title by winning the competition at the U.S. Olympic Diving Trials on Sunday in Indianapolis. Steele Johnson, Boudia’s synchronized partner for the 2016 Olympics, also qualified for an individual berth in Rio.
Boudia’s final round to win Olympic gold totaled 568.65 points. He scored 527.15 points at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials final. The cumulative score tallied 1534.40. Johnson earned 1475.15 points.
