Five fun questions to get to know Evan Weinstock

He has never had less than three dogs at a time

Do you have pets?

I grew up with tons of animals. Never less than 3 dogs at any one time. My mom rode horses at a stable in our neighborhood. Today, only one of our dogs is around and he lives with my brother. He is a Weimaraner named Billy and has tons of energy. Dogs have always been my favorite animal and help me relax whenever I get a chance to be with them.

Are there any misconceptions about your sport that you would like to clear up?

Bobsledding is not only for Jamaicans.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Greatness happens when you step out of your comfort zone.

What are your favorite hobbies?

Hiking is a great hobby that I enjoy doing alone or with some friends. This gives me a chance to disconnect from stresses and explore unknown areas.

Did anyone ever tell you that you wouldn’t be able to succeed in your sport?

When I first came into the sport, many athletes thought I should try skeleton because I didn't look like the typical meaty bobsledder. They thought I was too skinny to be powerful enough to succeed in it.
