Five fun questions to get to know Kendall Wesenberg

Wesenberg and two of her friends got matching tattoos in Thailand

Is there anything you do for training that’s out of the ordinary or experimental?

The only thing that is probably a little different than other athletes is neck strengthening exercises (which usually look pretty strange) for sliding.

What is your earliest or favorite memory of watching the Olympics?

My earliest memory of the Olympics was watching Kerri Strug land the vault on one ankle in 1996.

Within your sport, who has been your greatest influence and why?

I think Noelle Pikus-Pace's career is seriously impressive. She had a lot of success but also faced and overcame a lot of adversity. She also connected me with my strength and conditioning coach which has been a game changer for me.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I’m double jointed in my shoulders and I’m decent at juggling a soccer ball.

Please describe any tattoos you have.

I have a tattoo of an elephant on my hip. I got it with friends on New Year’s Eve day in Thailand when I was 18. My friend grew up there and had wanted an elephant tattoo (elephants are a Thai symbol of good luck) and so she was talking about it and the conversation somehow made its way to 3 of us getting matching tattoos.
