Germany's Eric Frenzel wins Nordic combined triple

SEEFELD, Austria — Defending overall champion Eric Frenzelof Germany won his third straight World Cup event Sunday to become the first winner of a Nordic Combined Triple, a new format that adds the results of three competitions in one weekend.
Frenzel was second after the ski jumping and went ahead of the field early in the 15-kilometer cross country. The German finished in 38 minutes, 26.2 seconds to beat Norway's Haavard Klemetsen, who led after the jumping, by 21.2 seconds. Magnus Moan of Norway came 29.1 back in third.
