Get ready to watch the Opening Ceremony: Athlete uniforms
It would seem there is no dress code for an Opening Ceremony. Teams march dressed in many varied styles, as different as the countries in which they travel from to compete.
Some nations choose uniforms which reflect the buttoned-up suit style of the West, which included France, the United States, Congo and Italy in 2012.
Other countries like to keep things casual with athletic wear, as seen by the choices by Ireland, Canada, Sweden and host nation Great Britain in London.
The most spectacular ensembles are generally those which draw on a nation's cultural heritage, where color is abundant, like Mexico, Malaysia, India and Nigeria in 2012.
And there are always delegations that make a clever tip-of-the-hat to the host nation, like the Czech Republic in 2012, who wore their wellies and carried umbrellas as a nod to the U.K.'s soggy weather.
