Meredith Vieira to fill in for Bob Costas, become first woman to solo host Olympics primetime show

NBC News and TODAY correspondent Meredith Vieira will fill in for Bob Costas as host of the NBC Olympics primetime show on Friday night, making history as the first time a woman has ever solo hosted Olympics primetime coverage.
Vieira has served as a TODAY correspondent throughout the Sochi Games and teamed with Lauer to provide commentary during the Opening Ceremony. She previously served as a correspondent during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Friday's primetime show will air on NBC from 8 - 11:30 p.m. ET, and will feature coverage of Bode Miller's and Ted Ligety's attempts to medal in the men's Alpine skiing super-combined, Noelle Pikus-Pace's inspirational run at a skeleton medal, the crowning of a men's figure skating gold medalist and more.
