BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. — Turns out, Shaun White will receive a little bit of a break between finals as race officials at the U.S. Grand Prix decided to move the slopestyle event to Sunday.
Heavy snow and low visibility originally caused the race jury to postpone slopestyle from Friday to Saturday morning, with the halfpipe final set for later that afternoon, causing White to compete in two events that were two hours apart. Officials revised that plan Friday evening, opting to switch slopestyle to Sunday instead.
U.S. Snowboarding tweeted out on Friday evening, "Due to new snow at #BreckGP, slopestyle is being moved to Sun."
White, the two-time defending Olympic champion, is trying to make the U.S. team for the Sochi Games in both disciplines.
Weather permitting, the ski halfpipe competition will now be held Saturday morning and after that the snowboard halfpipe final, where White is a heavy favorite.
As of Friday night, the revised finals schedule looks like this (all times are ET):
