Another major hockey star has been ruled out of the Sochi Olympics, and this time, it’s Vancouver Canucks captain and Swedish national team member Henrik Sedin.
Prior to Sedin’s confirmation that he would not suit up for Sweden in the Olympics, the Canucks had announced that he would be shut down for the last two games before the NHL went into its Olympic break.
"I'm disappointed not to be physically able to represent my country at the Winter Olympic Games," Sedin said in a statement. "This is a difficult decision but ultimately the best decision for me personally, Team Sweden and the Vancouver Canucks. I wish my teammates the best and look forward to returning to play."

Sedin has been dealing with a rib ailment that had kept him out of a recent string of games.
