Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski and two-time Olympian Johnny Weir have joined NBC Olympics' coverage of the 2016 Rio Games.

Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski and two-time Olympian Johnny Weir, NBC's figure skating analysts, have joined NBC Olympics' coverage of the 2016 Rio Games.

To prepare for their role, Lipinski and Weir traveled to Rio earlier this year to participate in Carnival. More from their trip can be seen here on LXTV's "First Look." They explored the beaches, food, tried samba dancing and took in the sights.

The duo has also appeared on the red carpet of other events, including Super Bowl XLIX, the 2014 Academy Awards and the 2015 National Dog Show serving as fashion, lifestyle and social media correspondents.

Lipinski and Weir will be on hand at the Kentucky Derby later this week, for the third consecutive year.

"We are thrilled to have Johnny and Tara join us in Rio, a city whose color, vibrancy and spirit is a perfect match with their own," Jim Bell, Executive Producer of NBC Olympics, said in a statement. "In Sochi, they brought a fresh take on figure skating and an authentic social media presence. We can't wait for them to bring their unique energy to the 'marvelous city' of Rio."
