London Olympics: First Medal Awarded July 28
There are 32 medal events in pool swimming and two more in the open-water discipline at the London Olympics, and the highlight is expected to be the 200m IM showdown between Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte. In Beijing, the U.S. led the swimming medals count with 31, including 12 gold.
