
The final day of table tennis competition featured China's completion of a medals sweep, the team's most dominant performance since the sport was introduced to the Olympics in 1988. Ma Lin won men's singles gold, Wang Hao silver and Wang Liqin bronze.


American Wang Chen's run through the women's singles draw ended in the quarterfinals with a loss to South Korea's Kim Kyung-Ah. By making the quarterfinals, Wang advanced farther than any American ever had in table tennis at the Olympics.
