Biathlon - Men

The United States men's biathlon team will send five athletes to the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, in search of its first medal in the sport.

Two biathletes have already pre-qualified for the Games, based on their early nomination by fulfilling one of two criteria during the 2008-09 season: top-30 status in the overall World Cup standings, or two top-15 results in World Cup or World Championship races.

Pre-qualified

Tim Burke, Paul Smiths, NY
Jay Hakkinen, Kasilof, AK

Other athletes may qualify with a top-30 result in a World Cup and/or IBU Cup race held in December 2009.

Leading candidates

Lowell Bailey, Lake Placid, NY
Russell Currier, Stockholm, ME
Leif Nordgren, Marine on St. Croix, MN
Jeremy Teela, Heber City, UT

The final roster will be set by January 11, 2010.
