Kimmie Meissner's hometown roots may lie in Maryland, but it was Delaware that served as the foundation for her figure skating career. Kimmie was born in Towson, Md. to Judy and Paul Meissner. Inspired by her older brothers playing ice hockey, she began skating at the young age of six. As her skills progressed she began to train at the University of Delaware Figure Skating Club in Newark, Del. After winning both a world and a U.S. championship as well as placing sixth in the 2006 Winter Olympics, she graduated from Fallston High School in Maryland in May 2007. She then became a part time student at the University of Delaware in the fall of that year, while continuing her skating career.
