Before Lowell Bailey became a world-class biathlete he spent his early childhood years in Siler City, N.C. Bailey then moved to Old Forge, N.Y., where he first put on a pair of skis. He excelled in cross-country skiing during his high school years which prompted the U.S. biathlon team to invite Bailey to train with them. During his senior year of high school, Bailey qualified for the Junior world championship biathlon team. Since then Bailey's success has continued. He made his Olympic debut in Torino. Bailey says he spends about 4-6 hours training each day.
