A snowboarder with southern roots seems an unlikely combination, but 2006 Olympic gold medalist, Seth Wescott proves that you don't need to be from Colorado to be an elite snowboarder. Durham, NC native Seth Wescott began skiing at age eight, before turning to snowboarding at age ten. He first started competing in 1991. Among his list of accomplishments, Wescott is a seven-time X Games medalist and a 2006 gold medalist in snowboard cross. He now lives in Maine, where he co-owns The Rack, a popular restaurant and bar near Sugarloaf, that caters to skiers and snowboarders.
