Williams brings home gold for Great Britain
Skeleton athlete Amy Joy Williams became the first Brit to win an individual gold medal since figure skater Robin Cousins at the 1980 Lake Placid Games, and the first British female individual to win since 1956. Breaking the track record twice and winning by .56 seconds, Williams was also the only British individual gold medalist in Vancouver.

"Night Train" pulls into winners' station
The bobsled crew known as “Night Train” (Steve Holcomb, Steve Mesler, Justin Olsen and Curt Tomasevicz) became kings of the sliding track in Vancouver, with blisteringly fast runs and a final lead of .38 seconds over the second-place German team. The last Olympic gold won by an American four-man bobsled team was at the 1948 St. Moritz Olympics.

Canadian women deliver one-two punch
After Canadians failed to win a single gold at their previous two home Olympics, the "Own the Podium" program was created to better prepare Canadian athletes to perform like champions in Vancouver. The boost was clear in the women’s two-person bobsled race, where Canadian athletes took multiple medals in one event for the first time in Vancouver. The gold medal was won by (above, from left) Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse, and silver was won by Shelley-Ann Brown and Helen Upperton.

Lange collects fourth gold
André Lange capped off his immensely successful career as a bobsled pilot with a gold medal in the two-man event and a silver medal in the four-man. A three-time Olympian, Lange won five total medals, four of them gold. Lange was chosen to carry the German flag during the Opening Ceremony of the Vancouver Olympics.
