Johnny Weir began his skating career in an unusual place -- a frozen cornfield in Quarryville, Lancaster County. The Susquehanna Valley native received a second-hand pair of ice skates for Christmas and quickly made use of them, weaving his way between the frozen stalks behind his house.
WGAL spoke to Weir before the Torino Games about his local roots. He said, "I still have really immense pride (in) where I come from." Weir didn't discover ice skating until he was 12. But his talent took over. He has since risen to the elite ranks of the skating world.
