Alissa Czisny

All the years of hard work and practice came together for Ohio's Alissa Czisny at the 2009 U.S. Figure Skating Championships held in Cleveland. Czisny didn't disappoint. Back in the Buckeye State and surrounded by family and friends, the 22-year-old skater claimed her first National Championship.

Born in Sylvania in northwest Ohio, Czisny currently makes her home in Bowling Green. She won U.S. Collegiate Figure Skating titles for Bowling Green State University in 2004 and 2008.

Now Czisny is eyeing Vancouver in 2010 and the chance to repeat the feat of fellow Bowling Green native, Scott Hamilton, and bring home an Olympic skating medal. Czisny also dazzles and inspires in the classroom. She graduated summa cum laude with a degree in international studies from BGSU in 2009 with a 4.0 grade point average.
