USA Luge's all-time international medal winner, Mark Grimmette of Muskegon, was introduced to luge in the mid-1980s when a luge run was constructed at Muskegon State Park, across the street from his family's house. The top of the track is now named Grimmette Peak. A 1989 graduate of Reeths-Puffer High School in Muskegon, Grimmette played offensive end for the Rockets football team all four years. After graduating high school, he attended Muskegon Community College. When he's not training, Grimmette likes reading, hiking and woodworking. He makes furniture for himself, and hopes one day to be good enough to sell his work.
