Fletcher missed the Vancouver Olympics due to a freak injury on a flight of stairs. Fletcher was replaced on the team by his brother, Taylor. Fletcher has stated that was the biggest motivational moment of his career when he could not participate in the Olympics. Since then Fletcher has become one of the best ski jumpers on the World Cup circuit. Fletcher won a bronze medal for the United States in the team event at the 2013 World Championships. The bronze medal team included Fletcher’s brother. At the age of three, Fletcher was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, he underwent chemotherapy for more than seven years and survived a stroke in the process before going into remission.
