Elm Grove's Catherine Raney-Norman is a veteran in the speedskating world, but earning a trip to her fourth Olympic Games in Vancouver would be just as sweet as the first. Raney-Norman began with dreams of becoming a figure skater, but a knee injury caused her to concentrate on speedskating at age 13.
She was an all-around sports star at Brookfield Academy, competing in softball, field hockey and track. Since then she has competed in the Olympic Games in 1998, 2002 and 2006. She came close to a podium finish in the Team Pursuit (fifth) and 5000m (seventh) in 2006. She is also the current American record-holder in the 3000m and 5000m.
