Despite being listed at just five feet tall (and that might be generous), Erika Lawler's playmaking ability made a huge impact during her four seasons at the University of Wisconsin. Lawler was part of three national championship teams and her 174 career points (55 goals, 119 assists) rank third in school history. As a senior she led the NCAA with 44 assists and earned All-WCHA Second Team honors. She was also a top-10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award. She also led the Badgers in assists as a junior (28) and ranked third in points (40) while securing a spot on the All-WCHA second team.
Like her one-time high school roommate Meghan Duggan, Lawler attended Cushing Academy in Massachusetts and was a three-year recipient of the Bette Davis Award as the top female athlete in her class. She was twice named MVP of the ice hockey team and was the field hockey team's MVP as a freshman. She captained both the field and ice hockey teams as a senior.
