While still a senior in high school at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Angela Ruggiero won a gold medal on the 1998 women's ice hockey team in Nagano, Japan. Ruggiero went on to win silver medal in 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah and a bronze medal in 2006 in Turin, Italy. At Harvard, Ruggiero won the Patty Kazmaier Award given to the top women's college hockey player. In 2005, Ruggiero became the first woman to play a non-goalie position in a men's professional hockey league playing for the Tulsa Oilers. Ruggiero was a favorite of Donald Trump during the sixth season of The Apprentice, however Trump fired her on the season's tenth episode.
