Darien native Ellery Hollingsworth is only 18 years old, and one of the youngest snowboarders competing on the international level. In 2006, she was awarded the "Rookie of the Year" by judges at the 24th annual U.S. Open of Snowboarding Championships in Stratton, Vermont for being the only female to compete in the finals for quarterpipe, superpipe and slopestyle events.
She too learned to snowboard with her brothers, and what's the most valuable lesson she's learned throughout the years? "Don't wipe the inside of your lens, because then, they will fog." Hollingsworth always travels with five accessories: skateboard, ipod, slippers, Emergen-C, and a special necklace from her grandpa. Be on the lookout for this young talent at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
