Jamie Anderson has been at the forefront of women's snowboard slopestyle for nearly a decade. During much of that time, the South Lake Tahoe, California native was the event's preeminent rider, winning a collection of medals at top-level contests around the world.

Among her vast accomplishments is earning the first-ever Olympic gold medal in women's slopestyle. The favorite entering the event, Anderson uncharacteristically found herself outside of podium position after her first run. With only two riders left to go in the contest, Anderson bounced back on her second and final attempt with a great run that vaulted her into gold-medal position.

While Anderson has enjoyed a dominant stretch over the years, the competition is rising to the occasion more than ever. Thanks to a group of talented young up-and-coming Americans, as well as surging vets like Austria's Anna Gasser, Anderson will have to contend with might be the deepest field ever seen in women's slopestyle as she tries to defend her gold medal.

Off the slopes, Anderson is a devout yogi and environmentalist. Just how dedicated is she? Before contests, Anderson has been known to hug trees as a way of relaxing herself.
